Download for Mac macOS 14 or later · free

The stations

1
DR P6 Beat Copenhagen
2
KEXP Seattle
3
KCRW Eclectic 24 Los Angeles
4
NTS 1 London
5
Les Inrocks Paris
6
Double J Sydney
7
FIP Paris
8
RNE Radio 3 Madrid

Click the icon next to the clock and press a number. P8 shows what's playing, plays through AirPlay speakers and Sonos, and answers your keyboard's play/pause key. No account, no ads, no tracking.

P8 plays each broadcaster's own public stream. The audio and track information belong to them.

Install

  1. Click Download for Mac.
  2. Open your Downloads folder and drag P8 into Applications. (If you see P8.zip instead, double-click it first.)
  3. Open P8. The first time, macOS checks that you want to open an app from the internet — click Open.

P8 lives next to the clock, not in the Dock.

Help

Where is it?
Click the little radio tower next to the clock. If you don't see it, your menu bar may be full — open System Settings › Menu Bar and make sure P8 is allowed.
Keys
With the panel open, 1–8 switch stations and space pauses. Your keyboard's play/pause key works too, and P8 shows up in Control Center's Now Playing.
AirPlay and Sonos
Click the AirPlay control at the bottom of the panel and pick a speaker. Sonos speakers are listed there too; if yours isn't, click Show more….
A station says "unavailable"
The broadcaster's stream didn't answer after several retries. Click it to try again; P8 also retries by itself when your network comes back.
No song title for some stations
Some broadcasters don't publish what's playing. P8 shows the station name instead.
Updates
P8 updates itself. When there's a new version it asks; click Install Update and it reopens on the new one. To check right away: Settings › Updates › Check now.
